The Tax Institute aims to be at the forefront of the development of tax policy and administration. The government, ATO and state revenue offices regularly call for submissions on new laws, law interpretation and administrative practices. Members who are interested in writing or reviewing submissions on a particular topic are invited to contact our Tax Policy and Advocacy team (taxpolicy@taxinstitute.com.au) to see how their technical expertise can be best utilised.

Technical committees

The Tax Institute has technical committees in the following areas:

  • Large Business and International
  • GST
  • FBT and Employment Taxes
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Superannuation
  • Not-for-profit
  • Tax Reform
  • Technical Resource (which focusses on SME and tax practitioner issues)

The committees are comprised of members who are experts on the particular area. Our committee members lead the development of our policy positions by contributing to our submissions to the ATO and government and by representing the Institute in consultations with key stakeholders. Membership of our national technical committees is reviewed annually. Members who are interested in joining one of our national technical committees should contact our Tax Policy and Advocacy team (taxpolicy@taxinstitute.com.au).
