In his address to The Tax Institute’s 31st National Convention, the Commissioner of Taxation has publicly committed to a timeline for improving online services for tax agents.

The Tax Institute’s president, Arthur Athanasiou said: ‘The ATO’s online systems are so heavily relied on by taxpayers and their agents that there is little margin for error. It is a courageous move from the Commissioner to publicly commit to improving these services by this time next year.’

The Commissioner announced the ATO will be implementing a program called ‘Show me What, Show me How’ in response to calls for more face-to-face support for agents.

‘We welcome additional support for agents. However, we hope that improved online services will be more user friendly and require less assistance from the ATO in the future,’ said Mr Athanasiou.
