Household names in the running for tax awards

18 February 2016: The Tax Institute has named the finalists in the running for the 2016 Tax Adviser of the Year Awards, and the list this year includes some surprising household names.

For the first time ever, a representative from a large corporate is in the running for the Chartered Tax Adviser of the Year. Mark Bradford, CTA from QANTAS will be up against Tony Frost, CTA from Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills and Mark Molesworth, CTA from BDO, in an exclusive group of finalists. 

Andrew Cornish CTA, from BHP Billiton, the biggest taxpayer in Australia, is one of three to be named as a finalist for the Corporate Tax Adviser of the Year Award along with co-finalists, Robert Kenn, CTA, NBN, and Peter Collins, FTI from PwC.

The leading SME Tax Advisers were recognised as Andrew Noolan, CTA from Brown Weight Stein Lawyers; Bill Keays, CTA from Keays and Associates and Paul Banister, CTA from Grant Thornton.

There are also those Emerging Tax Stars to watch, Alison Chen from KPMG, Tim Poli, ATI, from Norton & Smailes and Adib (Eddy) Nehme from DW Fox Tucker, breaking away from the rest of the graduate pack. 

The Tax Institute’s CEO Noel Rowland says that “making more than just a difference in the profession, these individuals’ actions create a ripple effect which can been seen both across the profession as well as in the lives of their clients and Australian population at large“.
