New Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer to reinvigorate Tax Reform debate

Publication date: 21 Sep 15 | Source: THE TAX INSTITUTE

21 September 2015:   The Tax Institute looks forward to working with the new Federal Treasurer, the Hon Scott Morrison MP, and new Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Small Business, the Hon Kelly O’Dwyer MP.

Tax Institute President Stephen Healey said today “Clear direction and a commitment to structural tax reform is needed in Australia that builds on the conversation that is already well underway. As we have maintained in the past, the tax reform agenda must fully encompass all elements of the tax system and should not prematurely rule anything in or out.”

“Significant time and effort has already been invested into the Tax White Paper process by the tax profession and other stakeholders”, said Mr Healey.

“The tax reform debate will be reinvigorated by the fresh approach a new Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer will bring and renewed commitment to the Tax White Paper process.

“We look forward to working with the new Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer as the Tax White Paper process progresses to the next stage.”
